Many people are familiar with the Enneagram, a description of personality types. Many are increasingly familiar with Essence, meaning qualities of being, a rapidly developing field in modern psychology. 9 Dimensions of the Soul is the first book to relate the two, understanding the personality types of the Enneagram in relation to the Essence. It integrates, in a direct practical way, the spiritual and psychological dimensions of the Enneagram. In doing so it sheds a new light on our personality, its origins and how it operates, presenting an accurate map of our inner and outer self, our personality and our inner being. It shows how these two dimensions are connected, and how they hold the key to our personal transformation and to fulfilling couple relationships. It functions equally well on a broader social scale, revealing new insights into how organizations and countries actually function.

David Hey has taken the psychological elements of the Enneagram & added them to the study of Essence, which are the qualities of being. It makes for an in-depth and enlightening analysis. He even delves into how countries and hierarchies function under the rules of the Enneagram. For those wanting to learn more about themselves from the core levels to the displayed traits, this is the book for you! ~ Rev Dr Sandra Gaskin, www.spirit-works.net
Sheds light on both the limitations of personality and on the dimensions beyond it. Systematic and instructive. ~ , Network Review
If you are familiar with the nine personality types of the Enneagram, this book delves deeper into the nine Essences that are at the core of each of them. The focus of David Hey's book is on the spiritual growth that an understanding of these core essences can engender, rather than a purely psychologicval approach. He details how to recognise, integrate and heal each ego-confusion. This will add another dimension of appreciation for those who have read other books on the subject, but it also stands alone as a useful framework for personal transformation and improved relationships with ones self. ~ Pilgrims Mind Body Spirit Store
I learned each personality has it's own color, name, symbol, passion, mask, etc. There was even info on how to work the particular essence, their likes dislikes, challenges, and how it all flows together to make us separate, but yet all one. I would recommend this awesome teacher to anyone who has been called to the energy, dynamics and allure of the ennegram. Thanks, David for this wondrous look at an amazing subject. ~ Riki Frahmann, Reviewer at Mystic Living Today
The Nine Dimensions of the Soul is written in a beautifully simple, insightful and heartful way and transmits complex material in a way that is easy to read and understand. Also, it is a welcome addition to the literature on the enneagram by integrating the 'Essence Work' of A. H. Almaas and Faisal Muqaddam with the traditional understanding of the nine aspects of the enneagram. ~ Thomas O. Trobe, MD Psychiatrist and Founder and Director of Learning Love Seminars, Inc.
