Joanna Godfrey Wood

Joanna Godfrey Wood

Joanna has been a Quaker all her life and attended Quaker school. She recently took the Equipping for Ministry course at the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre in Birmingham. This gave her a chance to study many aspects of Christianity and Quakerism, in the course of which she studied the works of 17th-century Quaker Margaret Fell, particularly her writings about the Light. She also looked at the connection between creativity and ministry in a more general way.

In her local Quaker meeting she is an Elder and her particular ministry is facilitating study groups for local Friends. She has also served the meeting as Overseer, Assistant Clerk and other roles. Quaker Quicks - In STEP With Quaker Testimony arises from a time of contemplation of the Light and how the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Truth, Equality and Peace can be found in Margaret Fell's writings, and how they might be lived out by Quakers today.

Joanna is retired, having spent her working life as a book editor, of both fiction and non-fiction titles. She is married, with two grown-up children and one grandchild and lives in North London.
