Hospital High written by Mimi Thebo is YA fiction based on a true story from a popular children's author who has been longlisted for the Carnegie Medal 2017. When she was fourteen, the author Mimi Thebo died in a car accident. Hospital High is a young adult novel based on the day she died and the subsequent three years spent recovering from the accident. National Road Victim Month UK is held annually in August to remember people that have been killed or injured on our roads. As well as honouring people that have been lost and injured, it is also a great opportunity to raise awareness to make our roads safer. RoadPeace holds events during August in memorial to those lost in roads crashes, and you can also do your bit to raise awareness for safer driving. Get involved in the subject at #NationalRoadVictimsMonth Based on a real-life accident the writing in Hospital High is grounded in reality, to help teens and young adults cope with the aftermath of injuries and illness from road accidents.Endorsement for Hospital High Aug 21, 2017: Margaret Pemberton, Librarian at Growing the School Library | NetGalley This is one of my must reads for this year. The story of a young girl and her fight to regain her voice after a car accident is truly amazing. The author grabs your attention and doesn't let go. I read it in less than two days and still find myself thinking about the tale, which is based on a true story. Highly recommended for teen readers.
