Matt Clement

Matt Clement is currently lecturing Criminology at Royal Holloway University of London, UK, He has previously worked as a community worker, with young offenders and as a school teacher in Bristol, UK. He has appeared on Al Jazeera's Inside Story panel on contemporary protest (2019), and was interviewed for Vice News on the links between the US's 'civil war' and the Italian strategy of tension (2020). Matt describes himself as a sociologist of deviance influenced by the ideas of Marx and Norbert Elias, and has published articles and book chapters on various topics including knife crime, riots past and present, the social harms of austerity and violence in the state and the streets.
