Laurie Taylor

The broadcaster Laurie Taylor has been one of the most distinctive voices on BBC Radio 4 for over 40 years. His weekly live programme Thinking Allowed has an audience of 1.2 million. And for the last 30 years he has written a weekly satirical column on university life for Times Higher Education. He is Emeritus professor of Sociology at the University of York, a Fellow of Birkbeck College, University of London, and holds numerous university honorary doctorships. Laurie’s In Confidence series on Sky Arts, consisting of over 60 one-hour interviews with well-known people, forms the basis of this study of celebrity.

Former editor of BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, and with a career in journalism and broadcasting, Sally Feldman was until 2012 Dean of Media, Arts and Design at the University of Westminster. She now works as a media and higher education consultant while continuing to write and broadcast, with a regular column in Times Higher Education
