Bruno Latour
Bruno Latour is Vice President for Research at Sciences Po, Paris and Professor associated with the Centre de sociologie des organisations (CSO).Born in 1947 in Beaune, Burgundy, from a wine grower family, he was trained first as a philosopher and then as an anthropologist. From 1982 to 2006, he was professor at the Centre de sociologie de l'Innovation at the Ecole nationale supérieure des mines in Paris and, for various periods, visiting professor at UCSD, at the London School of Economics and in the History of Science department at Harvard University. He is the author of a number of ground-breaking works in the anthropology, sociology and philosophy of science and technology, but his interests expand to disciplinary areas as varied as art, politics and ecology.
His books include Laboratory Life (Princeton University Press), Science in Action, The Pasteurization of France, Aramis, or the Love of Technology, We Have Never Been Modern, Pandora's Hope, and Politics of Nature (Harvard University Press). He is one of the early developers of actor-network theory, a social science research approach he summarized in his Reassembling the Social: An Introduction to Actor Network Theory (Oxford University Press).
