Julie Buckingham

Author, Julie Buckingham would like to say hello.

She's a British married mum who wears hearing aids all her life, but it hasn't stopped her writing, or learning new things. “Life is a fantastic learning curve, filled with pot-holes, and sometimes, very stony ground!”

“But I'm happy and proud to re-introduce my novel THEY WALKED INTO DARKNESS, back into distribution and circulation for those who enjoy a good read!”

Some endorsements of her novel are printed below:

'I could not put this book down, and was so sorry when it came to end.' Sue Makin

'I enjoyed reading this book. It is a deeply meaningful human story and very well written. It has detailed description of Red Indian culture. It's an insight into the life sufferings of the Red Indians. Very well researched. Thank you.' Maryam Sharp

Julie has several novels she wishes to release at some stage. “The Alligator's Labyrinth is a mix of fantasy and science fiction; Nor the Moon Shall See Them is a crime adventure, as is it's follow-on, Wind Tiger, and Creep Away is a police story set in the 1960's.”

She qualified for dream analysis AMANF and Reiki mastery several year's ago. “Symbols in dreams are very complicated and I'm no Carl Jung, but I managed to work out the most common dreams! I'm interested in the esoteric arts like Tarot, the I Ching, Tasseography, herbal and homoeopathic remedies, and the stresses and strains that cause mental health problems – the mind has mountains and phantoms, so they say.”

As well as writing, Julie's other hobby is copying and painting wild animals and other interesting things that catch her eye. “Even a snail has its own beauty if painted in certain ways using certain colours!”

In spiritual perspective Julie looks out for 'homey' things; “The way a cobweb is drenched in dew; the love in a dog's eyes, the bond between grandfather and grandson, seen in a cuddle... All these make pleasing, pleasant pictures that warm the heart. Bubble art and fantastic futuristic pictures are also very intriguing.”

Julie likes cooking colourful meals for family and is always on the look-out for cheap, tasty, thrifty recipes. “I invite readers to tell me their secret recipes. I'd be interested in trying them!”

She was busy during lock-downs. “I exercised every day, looked after the family, phoned friends to see how they were, wrote and wrote, and painted so many pictures I had no room to put them anywhere!”
