Paul Eldridge

Paul Eldridge grew up in beachside Maroubra, Sydney, a suburb renowned for its hard-core surfing and partying lifestyle. In his late twenties, he began DJing at the leading clubs and bars around Oxford Street, in Sydney’s 24/7 party strip. From that iconic dance-party hub, Hordern Pavilion, to residencies at venues such as Stonewall and the Beresford, and frequent gigs along Oxford Street’s bars and clubs, his venues, his music style and the crowd he attracted were usually underground and predominantly gay (though, for the record, he himself is not). In 1995 he also began the infamous long weekend ‘recovery parties’ in the Beresford Hotel laneway, and presided over them for five years.
Beyond Sydney, Paul played the east coast of Australia, from Melbourne up to Townsville, and hosted music broadcasts on numerous radio stations along the way. For six years he was the resident (European) summer and New Year DJ at Double Six nightclub on Bali, and he also played at some of the island’s leading dance parties, such as Ngyang Ngyang and Castaway (voted the number-one party in S.E. Asia for three consecutive years), as well as other Indonesian venues.
He now lives a very different life in Bali.
