Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. "You won't believe in him until you need him" The story of Archibald Mountbank is fast-paced and almost over before it begins. The elderly man claims to have the potential to make anyone 1% better at their chosen area of interest - whether it's a tangible change like height, or an increase in the capacity to love. There are sceptics and there are believers, with his waitlist over a year long and rumours of his impending retirement. "The limitless potential in Mountbank's hands was suddenly limited. It created a small panic." The quick tale follows a journalist and skeptic who sits in on the sessions to 'get to the bottom of things', only to realise he needs Mountbank's supposed powers. The book has Mary Poppins vibes, showing the reader that even the greatest skeptic is willing to part with their beliefs when desperate. In a book containing his brand of miniscule miracles that exist within the realms of faith, doubt, belief, gullibility, and more, having read it three times through now, I think it is plain to see that Archibald Mountbank and the Miniscule Miracles may well be a novella, but contained within its pages is a wealth of self-help, self-analyzation and self-awareness tones that could also arguably, and ably juxtapose into a learned skill set.
