Anna Jordan

Anna Jordan

Anna Jordan grew up in Ireland. Anna studied Philosophy English and French at university in Dublin after graduating went to work in Britain for a year. She fell in love with London and was determined to return but needed to sort out a career first. On returning to Ireland she did a two-year postgraduate course which qualified her as a social worker. In 1987 she emigrated to Britain and began working as a social worker in Adoption and Fostering. After several years Anna decided to take a career break and to give her singing talents an opportunity. She took a job at the Royal Opera House working as an usherette and it was a wonderful experience to regularly watch the famous names of opera and ballet performing on stage each evening. During the day Anna took voice training and music theory lessons and attended some auditions. She eventually decided to travel to Italy and worked there as a nanny with a view to immersing herself deeper in the world of opera. However, Anna realised after a few months that her voice was not suited to opera singing. Anna returned to Britain and somewhat reluctantly returned to working as a social worker too. When she married in 1996 Anna left London and came to live in Hampshire and when her first child was still a toddler Anna became interested in writing a children's book. Up until this time Anna had always written poetry but the idea to write a novel stuck and Anna has been writing ever since. She has had a varied journey to becoming an author but is happy to have experienced many things on the way and thus to be able to use these experiences in future writings as well.
