Hagger is not the first to name a core group of 12 families within the context of a pattern of shadowy interests aimed at undermining nation-state sovereignty, but here he concludes that these opwer plays all boil down to the pursuit of oil, money and power. He is hopeful that the gforces wanting to implement global democracy will win out in the end, and believes the United Nations has been sidelined in this quest. Finally, a solid book about this pressing matter, and refreshingly without the usual hysteria or excessive speculation. Hagger has done his homework and is initially just concerned with supplying extensive data. Upon this he builds his case: contrary to popular belief, the desire for world domination has never died down. There is a clandestine group, let's call them 'the Syndicate', which desires to achieve this aim. Most of the defining events of the 20th century have been orchestrated by this club, and now the machinery is in place. An intriguing revision of 20th century history, cmobined with unsettling prophecies for the future. He discusses the strengths and and weaknesses of some of his more "fringe" sources in the appendix. This kind of measured response is a hallmark of this book. and unlike many conspiracy tomes, Hagger's The Syndicatre is remarkably free of ranting. Those interested in conspiracy theory will find The Syndicate a thought-provoking introduction to topics such as the Bilendbergers, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Club of Rome. It might not provide a concrete exposure of the shadowy figures who rule the world from behind the scenes, but it does a shine a light on some of their chicanery. ~ Mysteries Magazine
