This wonderful new book shows us how to easily begin to take care of our physical, mental and emotional health equally and whilst it does admittedly have a lot of chapters and sub-sections to work your way through, where a lot of other books of this ilk tend to focus solely on one of those noted human-related topics, this book lovingly encompasses them all; in an easy to read, easy to understand and to be read at your own pace way. This little beauty of a book has already made a huge impression on me. There was something new to discover in every corner - whether that was delving into the numbers behind my life, tricks on how to improve my immune system and even lessons on emotional intelligence. It never failed to impress and I loved reading it! The one lasting impact has to be around four cornerstones which includes advice on how to be impeccable with your word, reminding us to never take things personally, never assuming and to always try our best. It's such simple, straight forward advice but in all the noise and madness of today, simplicity made it through and truly touched my heart. I am so grateful to Oliver for putting together this treasure chest of a book and for being brave enough to share his own story at the start. It's a book I will be recommending and cherishing for many years to come. 5 out of 5 ~ Stefanie Daniels, Life begins at menopause (Wellbeing Expert)
I do believe I have just been introduced to a complete guide to support the human experience. I loved how Oliver Rolfe took us on a journey of awareness and self discovery. Each chapter was cleverly built upon the next. People often can relate to their physical body but have difficulty relating to their mental, emotional and spiritual selves. I appreciated how Oliver created a solid foundation in the physical before he introduced the other pieces so integral to the human experience. As a practicing Numerologist, I commonly see people who are lost and directionless, often feeling fragmented in their lives. The Holistic Guide to Your Well Being brilliantly embraces all pieces of the soul with divine perfection. We are not just one piece of the whole. We need to embrace all components to help us reach wholeness. It is so wonderful to have a "go to" resource that I would feel confident to share with my clients at any level of self awareness. I feel that this is a wonderful tool that I feel confident offering to my clients. It really does provide seekers a user friendly step by step journey to wholeness. This book is not at all pretentious. Oliver keeps it real and relatable by sharing some of his own personal experiences. His passion for health and well being is so obvious. I particularly enjoyed the section on Emotional Intelligence! I do feel my favourite part of the book was The Five Cornerstones Of A Controlled, Happy And Contented Life. This really gave me cause for reflection. I am familiar with Don Miguel Ruiz’s work but Oliver embraced it in a way I hadn't considered before. I feel this was the glue that brought the whole book together full circle. What a great way to summarise this masterpiece! My advice to readers would be to leave this book out where you can access it often. Don't read it and shelf it. Keep it in view so that you will resort to its wisdom over and over again. Like sand in an hourglass, there are pearls of wisdom that will continue to trickle down to feed you over time. Take time to savour the journey. Absolutely a 5 out of 5! ~ Ann Perry, World Renowned International Numerologist
From my perspective of a mental health practitioner and a Pilates teacher, what I like most (about the book) is the introduction where the author tells a story of a critical event in his early life, which could have defined him, but he chose to not allow this to happen. I like the emphasis on personal responsibility to make the positive choice, as often people are unaware they are able to make this choice. I enjoyed the holistic approach as this is something the health service is often too strapped to address in the way it would like to. I also enjoyed the emphasis on social connection as this is much undervalued and critical to our mental, and therefore physical, health. It's interesting that this has become part of social prescribing. Reference to evidence-based practice or research is helpful where the author has done this, adding validity. A lot of people are turned off by the phrase positive mind set when referred to without definition, especially if they have been severely unwell, as it suggests that they are failing if not able to maintain this all the time, which isn't possible - terminology is something I notice frequently. I found the guidance on diet really helpful. The book pulls together all the relevant themes that I hear from health professionals who also have long-term conditions. This was an altogether interesting and highly informative read. The Holistic Guide To Your Health & Wellbeing Today is a book I am delighted to recommend. 5 out of 5 ~ Jen Burgess, Body Control Pilates Teacher and Mental Health Practitioner
The Holistic Guide To Your Health & Wellbeing Today is a refreshing balance between self-realisation and guided advise. I am often troubled by the preachy rhetoric that comes with so many proclaimed self-help books but what is refreshingly different here is that this book is a perfect blend of modern thinking, spiritual and holistic well-being, combined with a good dose of Scientific fact. The Holistic Guide to Your Health & Wellbeing Today is not only a guide to your own personal well-being, but an inspirational and genuinely interesting read that clearly gives a very personal insight into its author. For those that are looking for enlightenment, maybe this is not for you, but for those that want to have more control and greater balance in their life it is a must read. 5 out of 5 ~ Tom Charlesworth Assoc CIPD, Trustee of Magic Moments Charity
This book is a veritable bible of all things wellbeing. This guide will no doubt be an incredible support to those looking to dive into the maze that can be holistic health. It gives insight, helpful tricks and tools as well as a wealth of information across nutrition, energetics, emotional intelligence and beyond. In my view - as the link between physical illness and our emotional wellbeing becomes increasingly accepted as mainstream truth rather than some kind of hippy narrative, emotional literacy will undoubtedly become one of the key pillars of health and I am so pleased to see it so comprehensively covered here. 5 out of 5 ~ Lucy Puttergill, Personal Freedom Coach & Mentor
I am an avid reader of self-improvement and business books and try to make the time to read a minimum of one book a month, I often find some of the hype of the book is the opposite to the actual book and I am disappointed with regurgitated material that often these books seem to copy between themselves. The opposite is the case for The Holistic Guide To Your Health & Wellbeing Today. Once I found the time and space to really take the time to digest the book, I can say that this is a brilliant book with practical advice and with refreshing honesty from the author. I really enjoyed the modern spin of the book whilst not losing its holistic and spiritual roots. With so many books offering life changing solutions that do not deliver, I believe you will find this book to be a realistic guide to practical control within your life. This will be an author that I will look out for in the future as I am sure we will see more brilliant insights from him. 5 out of 5 ~ Emma Barber Assoc CIPD , Chair of a Childrens Charity and Head of Training and Development
The Holistic Guide To Your Health & Wellbeing Today by Oliver Rolfe, contains lots of different and connected information, it made for a very enlightening read. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, and I was looking for ways other than prescription medication to manage my condition, this book has given me insight into lots of ways to help myself. I particularly liked the chapter on the Chakras, as a yogi myself, it gave me a more in-depth perspective to include in my practice. I am also looking forward to diving into numerology in more depth. After following the chapter through, working out my own life path and core numbers, and reading the meanings, that were very accurate. I want to find out more about it. I really enjoyed the book in its entirety and look forward to dipping in and out, while I learn more about myself. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more about themselves. 5 out of 5 ~ Trudy Roberts, Ankylosing Spondilitus Warrior
This book is a truly refreshing reference guide of how to live in the minefield of the twenty first century in a bespoke manner, encompassing a unique toolbox of ideas. The menu on offer including some old and some more modern philosophies is used to guide the reader towards an enhanced form of self awareness. Oliver uses his own experience to act as sherpa to start the book and then narrator which works beautifully. The depth and detail to which he goes into during the chapters arms the reader with the authority to begin to look at themselves through a new pair of glasses. The book ties in each chapter with ease, bringing the reader along and explaining the link between each area of health raising the curtain on the knowledge that the system is all one and all linked. What I truly gleaned from reading this book is that Oliver is offering an experience based guide to living life with the blinkers off. That physical, emotional, mental and spiritual balance is not a myth and is achievable even for the hard nosed ex city type such as I. This book in my mind is to be read and re-read and then referred back to. I would and will cheerfully and honestly recommend this book. 5 out of 5 ~ Philip Wing MSCI, Wealth Manager and Former Investment Banker
This is so well written, and can’t wait for the world to read it! “The Holistic Guide To Your Health & Wellbeing Today” was a great reminder that our optimal state of overall wellbeing is when we ensure we take care of our physical, mental and emotional health equally. Many books or courses focus on just one of these categories, but it was great to see such an emphasis put on finding balance between all of them in one easy-to-read guide. One of my favourite sections, and something that I find myself coming back to repeatedly, is the chakra systems. I have not come across a better description of the 7 chakras anywhere on the internet or other books. Unless you are in the world of energy work, chakra is a word you might hear a few times in your life, but it’s not something that is discussed enough. I will continue to use this guide when speaking to others in helping them understand their own chakra system, finding their imbalances, and realigning themselves. One other part of the book that really spoke to me was the Life Path Numerology. My Master Number description was very accurate, and also pointed out the areas of my life that I need to work on the most. And lastly, what was written about the importance of being in the present moment is probably one of the most important things we can all work on in life. I am so glad the reminder and message is out there for all. 5 out of 5 ~ Nike Klara, Corporate Liaison and Wellbeing Enthusiast
This is a noteworthy and praiseworthy effort, taking a massive, complex and sometimes controversial topic and condensing it into something more manageable for the masses.
