Otherworld: Ecstatic Witchcraft for the Spirits of the Land is about establishing relationships with the spirits of the land. Many books talk about Faeries, but this book not only teaches about the Elves and Faery folk, but also how to have a working relationship with the spirits of plants, animals, and the land itself. Otherworld also teaches how to perform animal magick including shapeshifting for magick, healing, and establishing a deeper connection with animal spirits and discusses ecstatic trance techniques that will help practitioners work with the land spirits in a deep and profound way.

“Otherworld” is a great reference book for anyone interested in trance work. Dealing with the ways to achieve trance and what to do once you’re under are part of what are covered in this book. Having exercises at the end of each chapter gives a solid way to anchor down the information given. Quoting from many other sources leads this volume some weight in the subject at hand. Highly recommended for those with an interest in starting or growing a personal trance practice. Give this book a try! ~ Kurt Hoogstraat, author of Contemporary Seidr: A Guide To Norse Trance Work

Allaun's clear descriptions of those realms and techniques provide excellent road maps to successful encounters with faeries, elves, dwarfs, and even dragons. You are never alone on your journeys as he carefully guides you each step of the way with easy to understand principles. Imagine you are walking through the woods. It is twilight and the shadows are deepening around you. Did that tree branch look exactly like that a moment ago? Was that faint music you heard? You suddenly have goose bumps. Something feels different. You have stepped into liminal space: the world of elves, faeries, animal spirits, and dragons. The Otherworld. In his enchanting new book, Chris Allaun gives a lovely description of the Otherworld along with exercises to transport you there and tips on how to communicate with its inhabitants. Otherworld begins with a reverent journey through the creation of our Mother Earth. It continues with explanations of each of the various worlds and their denizens. Allaun’s exercises are detailed and practical. One of the many things I love about this book is that it is appropriate for both the novice and the experienced magical practitioner. There is enough background to help the beginner grasp complex concepts, yet there is enough substance to delight the elder with fresh perspectives on well worn magical habits. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wishes to deepen their magical practice. —Dana Brown (Kamala), HindJewitch, kissed by the Fae, owner of Kamala’s Own Magickal and Mundane Perfumery (www.kamala.com) ~ —Dana Brown (Kamala), HindJewitch, kissed by the Fae, owner of Kamala’s Own Magickal and Mundane Perfumery (www.kamala.com)

In Otherworld: Ecstatic Witchcraft For the Spirits of the Land, Chris Allaun offers a comprehensive and illuminating overview of the magical universe, drawing upon Celtic and Norse myth, folklore and experience, as well as drawing upon the insights of other cultures, discussing faeries and elves, animal spirits, nature spirits and techniques of shapeshifting. The book focuses upon two main themes close to my own heart: the connection of the magician to the land, and the expression of ecstasy as a magical technique. Most importantly, the book is clearly and fluently written and is first and foremost a practical work for hands-on practitioners. ~ Michael Kelly author of Aegishjalmur: The Book of Dragon Runes
Chris Allaun presents a wonderful book that taps directly into a subject that is very close to my heart and my own magical practices. This is all about working directly with source magic from the land. He covers some interesting angles and shares his obvious experience and practical knowledge. A fascinating read. ~ Rachel Patterson, author of Witchcraft into the Wilds and the Kitchen Witchcraft series
There are many books about the invisible or intravisible side of earth (aka the "otherworld") as mythical, metaphorical, and magical. But, few are written by a human journeyer who has painstakingly trained and shifted their awareness using the lore passed on through literary and oral traditions on how to enter, encounter and exchange with the otherworld and its "secret commonwealth" for the love of earth and her life. Christopher Allaun is one of the few. He has demonstrated his otherworld competence and experiences in the living development to set the tone, which in my view is sacred magic devoted to the wellbeing of our world and its life. From there Allaun gives a menu of magical treats offering techniques including dance, breath work, shape shifting, traveling/ flying and more. Then he provides the benefit of seeing through many cultural lenses that it is populated with an array of powerful intelligences such as Jhin, Faery, dragons and more, and he shows them as the powerful, wise and crucially important "original ancestors" that they are. Why is this book important to the health of humanity, and even more importantly avoiding the oncoming ecological disaster and a human-induced mass extinction event? To do this, we must go to our roots, our foundation, our planet - for we are children of one mother and her name is Earth. I grew up with an old Appalachian saying, "you cannot bless the fruits and curse the roots". This wonderful book leads us through the visible structures of earth into its "pre-formed energetic, plasmatic and starborn original state" to recapture our place in the emergent destiny of our garden of Eden. In doing so, we awaken the memory of the original instructions pulsing in all of Earth as "the life that runs through all" and the old magic returns with original innocence, co-existence and co-creation and restorative life. Read this book. Internalize its wisdom. Become ignited with the ecstasy of life and wield magic with muscle for the sake of all. All for the Love of Earth. ~ Orion Foxwood, author of The Tree of Enchantments, founded the House of Brigh Faery Seership Institute and apprenticeship
Otherworld: Ecstatic Witchcraft for the Spirits of the Land reminds us that the Spirit Walker does not simply spend time in nature, the Spirit Walker is nature. Just as the witch is nature. We all are! This accessible book offers practical tools to access and practice a profound teaching: we are not separate from the world we live in. Our world is not separate from the realms of the Otherworld. To reach our full human potential we must learn to dance with all beings and dimensions, all possibilities, All That Is. This book offers recipes to awaken the the magick slumbering within all of us. This is our nature and birth right. When the Dance Master extends his hand, get moving! ~ Imelda Almqvist, international teacher and author of Natural Born Shamans: A Spiritual Toolkit for Life
