There are a lot of things in the universe that we don’t understand. When something is meant to happen, it will whether you cast a spell or not. But you can help it on its way by guiding and encouraging it and maybe even tweaking events a little too. A spell can be worked in many ways, from a simple pointing of the finger to a complicated ritual involving lots of herbs and crystals and, of course, any variation in between. What will happen for sure is the boost of confidence and happy buzz you will receive as you cast the spell, as well as the positive vibe you get from putting something into action.
Kitchen Witchcraft: Spells & Charms is a the first in a series of books which delves into the world of the Kitchen Witch. Each book breaks down the whys and wherefores of the subject and includes practical guides and exercises. Other titles include Garden Magic, Altars & Rituals and The Elements.

This book is to the point. I have a large collection of books that I struggle with whereas this one keeps it simple. The author explains how, what and why simply and doesn't impose their opinion. I'm ordering the rest of the books :-) ~ Lisa, Amazon
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars. I am not a kitchen witch (at least I don't consider myself one), but I've always been fascinated with kitchen witchcraft. This is a great reference, and inspired me to add a little magic into my kitchen workings. What I LOVED though is this book doesn't just focus on the good - it also covers the darker side of magic (with a warning of course). Honestly that's what tipped this book into the five-star category for me. I appreciate when authors don't just go the 'love and light' only course. ~ Liliyana Shadowlyn (Reviewer) , NetGalley
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. I found this fascinating. It’s the first book on the subject I’ve read and it seemed very much geared for a beginner. I do agree with other reviewers that it seems most useful as a reference book, rather than one to read from start to finish. It certainly left me with plenty to think about. ~ T Hodge (Educator), NetGalley
This a great little book of useful information about spell types, corresponding moon phases, colours, star signs, herbs etc and some excellent uncomplicated spells/charms. I bought this book after searching for a spell online to undo a hex. Although the spell itself was available in full online, I decided to buy the book and it didn’t disappoint. There’s no strict rules, more guidance/advice and you are encouraged to use things that are at hand rather than spend a fortune on ‘tools’ etc. The book explains the principles of casting spells and possibilities of things not going quite to plan. I found this easy to follow and enjoyable to read. I would recommend it to others starting out on their witchy path! ~ Loobizaz, Amazon
Where you are a novice or further along the path, this book is packed with down to earth information. A great book to refer to for ideas, as well as not being dogmatic, Rachel encourages you to use your intuition and whatever you have to hand in your cupboards and garden, showing you don't have to obtain expensive or rare ingredients. ~ Heather Dewhurst, Amazon
If you are an experienced spell caster, this book is full of folk magick techniques that are varied and fascinating. Have fun giving it a read! ~ Kathy Buxton, NetGalley
This is one of those books you keep around and pull up when you are lookigng to help make a difference. It is not a book you read from cover to cover then forget about. It is more of a reference book. If you like magic and witch craft this is a very good book. It is good for beginners as well. Mot of the items used in the spells are in most peoples homes already or are very easy to obtain with a trip to Wal-Mart or the grocery store. The wording used in the book is easy to understand, and the spells are easy to cast. I enjoyed the variety of instances that the spells can be used for. This is not a book of spells just for love , money, or good health. ~ Teresa Noel, http://teresasearsnoel.booklikes.com/post/1794226/kitchen-witchcraft-spells-charms-by-rachel-patterson
I love this book so natural not full of hundreds of hard to get ingredients highly recommended ~ Wendy Turner, Amazon
Another fantastic book by Rachel Patterson. Like her other books, Spells and Charms is packed full of information. It’s different to other spell books as it doesn’t just contain spells, but explains the different types of spell and how to create your own. There are lists of correspondences but you are encouraged to go with what works for you. All this is wrote in Rachel’s friendly down to earth style. It will be useful for both beginners and those more experienced witch. ~ Kindle Customer, Amazon
Great book and a very easy read. Ms Patterson hit on a couple of subjects that I have had questions on, therefore this book goes on the desk shelf as a reference book. Wonderful job Ms Patterson. My “Patterson” library is growing. ~ Kathi Hicks, Amazon
I have read a few books by this author and I have to say I love all of her books. I could not put this one down. I found it very easy to read and learnt quite a few new things about the craft. This book is excellent for a newbie as well as a seasoned witch. ~ Spongebob, Amazon
I loved this book & have read it cover to cover twice now. I am fairly new to the path & I found this book helpful & informative & easy to read. It's great to be able just to dip in & out of sections on a certain topic such as candle & colour magic & other Kitchen Witchery spells & correspondences. I highly recommend this book to anyone actually. Looking forward to the next book in this series. ~ Miss M. Panayi, Amazon
Rachel Patterson’s new volume, Kitchen Witchcraft: Spells and Charms, is absolutely necessary for any practicing witch, regardless of the type of witchcraft she or he practices; it is great for both the beginner wanting to learn about the nuts and bolts of spells and charms, as well as for the more experienced witch who simply wants to expand her or his resources. Patterson approaches the topic of spells and charms from a very practical perspective, and from her own very personal experience. The book is filled with many useful suggestions and ideas, from addressing the basics of casting a spell to various specific methods of casting spells, such as using herbs, candles, oils, and crystals, just to name a few. This first part of the book is a fabulous resource, packed full of many ideas and approaches to spell casting. The second half of the book is a list of excellent possible spells to achieve a number of different goals. Throughout the entire book, one of the overarching messages that I appreciate is that Patterson reminds us that we should each follow our own intuition when choosing how to cast spells and what to include in our spell work. Overall, I find this book to be a tremendous resource that I will turn to regularly for advice on casting my spells. ~ Paul Chamness Miller, Amazon
the 15th book i have got from this wonderful author...and i'm quite established at my practice, this book is just brilliant to just dip in and out of, i read it cover to cover when i got it,it covers an array of spells and charms from prosperity to confidence, banishing and healing..its perfect for the beginner as well as the more experienced witch, the fab thing about these spells and charms is, that most of the things needed you may have in your home anyway, so no great expense to pay out,and if you have read some of Rachel's other books you will know if you don't have something , you can use other things, such as your finger if you don't have a wand, brilliant book and well worth a place on your bookcase. ~ Cosmic Dancer, Amazon
I have read and reviewed many of Rachel’s books. She has an easy to read writing style. She provides the information is simple terms. Most of the ingredients are readily available and directions are not difficult to follow. The author gives advice, suggestions and warnings about using certain spells. She reminds us that you sometimes get what you ask for whether it is really, what you wanted. The book covers the following topics. For a small book, it is chock full of information. This would be an excellent beginner’s book but also a good addition to an experience practitioner. ~ Dawn Belladonna Thomas, Amazon
Very thorough how-to guide with a multiplicity of types of charms for all situations. Recommended! Perfect for beginners or existing practitioners. I look forward to more by this author. ~ Tala Schwa, NetGalley
What a delightful and approachable introduction! Recently I've been interested in modern approaches and perspectives on witchcraft. I was intrigued by the title because it seemed more approachable to someone like me (curious but not a practitioner). Rachel Patterson provides the novice with basic guidelines but instructs in a manner is uniquely hers--much like an art book often provides guides without imposing inflexible rules. I appreciated that she also provides a section of spells like recipes to follow in its own section. The structure of the book made it an enjoyable read as well as a useful reference guide to return to. ~ CR Elliot, NetGalley
This was a fun and easy to use book. If there's a place I need magic it's in the kitchen! No need for rare items, just use what you have. ~ Anne Fay, NetGalley

Kitchen Witchcraft Spells & Charms is a simple to follow step by step informative guide that shows you how to do simple spells or charms with the ingredients right in your kitchen cabinet. So easy to read and self explanatory from moon phases to recharging items and so much more. ~ Tracy Marrs, NetGalley
This is a great book! Very helpful in creating your own spells. Everything you would need to know to make your own spells successfully! Fun read, excited to get working on my spells. ~ Caitlin Gawa , NetGalley
Informative and engaging, especially helpful for those beginning to walk down this path. ~ Christina Blake , NetGalley
Brilliant. I really enjoyed this book and it is great for anyone on any level. It is a book of simple spells and charms for ones home with items that are from your kitchen and garden. I really enjoyed how she explained that you do not need an intensive list of ingredients to make a spell and to make the spell your own and that you must believe in it. ~ Trista Hutchison, NetGalley
This is a great book for anyone looking to make positive changes to their lives that have a passion for magic and witchcraft. One thing I did like was that the ingredients you need for the spells are items are ones that most people will have at home anyway making it easy to gather everything needed without spending a fortune. A really interesting read and I may give one or two recipes a tray! ~ Kirsty White, For the love of books!!
Kitchen Witchcraft: Spells & Charms by Rachel Patterson is a book everyone will want to have on hand for reference. It explains how to cast spells in easy terms. From money spells and love spells to what to do with the leftovers from your workings. Using what you have instead of going out and spending a lot of money is also part of what makes this book very usable.. Using different phases of the moon, charging and recharging magical objects, charms as opposed to amulets are just a few of the many subjects taught. This author has written one of the best books on this subject and one I think that should be in everyone's library. Being High Priestess of the Kitchen Witch Coven and an Elder at the online Wyrd Witches/ Kitchen Witch School makes her an authority on the subject. ~ Marie Angel, NetGalley
Despite being interested in the craft, Kitchen Witchcraft is the first book I've read on the subject. I found it to be interesting and informative, especially for a beginner. I would definitely recommend it. ~ Orláith Armstrong , NetGalley
Absolutely brilliant as are all of her previous books. Full of interesting facts written in a way that is like having a conversation with the author. Totally recommend this book ~ Peter Frances, NetGalley
Kitchen Witchcraft: Spells & Charms is an interesting little book that guides you to do simple spells and charms from one's home. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for those wanting to learn simple spells and charms. ~ Rose Frum, NetGalley
Rachel Patterson is a prolific writer, having been the sole author on 12 books previous to this lucky 13 -- and that’s not even accounting for the several books she has co-authored or contributed to. Despite the copious amount of written material that Patterson has produced, I felt less that I was reading a book and more that I was sitting down with a dear friend over a cuppa, discussing our craft as witches. Her style is warm, welcoming, and generous while also gently guiding and suggesting ways of channeling intent into change. As the High Priestess of the Kitchen Witch Coven and Elder at the Kitchen Witch School of Natural Witchcraft, her advice comes from years of experience, study, and practice. This book was a delight from beginning to end, and I am certain I will go back to it again and again, in addition to seeking out more of Patterson’s work for my own reading pleasure and personal craft. Bottom line - 5/5 stars, would absolutely recommend. Get thee to a bookstore! ~ L. H., NetGalley
I found this book to be an excellent reference book for beginners. The author uses simple informative language. The ingredients are easily sourced, and most are things you would have around the house. The author also encourages experimentation, finding what works best for you and using your intuition which I liked. She gives anecdotes of her own mishaps and does cover hexes, however she does add a word of caution. ~ Rebecca Kilroy, Wonderfully Weird
