David R. Denny

He was born in Albany, Georgia but only lingered there briefly. He followed the trail my Air-Force father blazed, traipsing off to Germany, where he frequented the local kindergartens and learned phrases like Wo ist die Toilette, Bitte. He also lived in Japan for four years and, through these Homeric travels, learned to appreciate other cultures. He had many basketball scholarships to state colleges but, opting for a religious path, he attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia as a member of the first class. The school had offered a free trip to the Holy Land if he signed up, so he obliged and merrily toured Israel. Hearing the whisperings of the Mississippi, he later slipped down to New Orleans, where he graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies. He titled his dissertation "The Significance of Isaiah in the Writings of Paul." He served as senior pastor of six different churches from Chicago to New Orleans. He recently settled on Virginia's Eastern Shore in Accomac, Virginia, where he is now pastor of the quaint Drummondtown Baptist Church by the ocean's edge.
