James Hartley
James was born on the Wirral, England. He moved to Singapore when he was seven and later lived in Scotland and Oman. When he was sixteen he went to a boarding school which served as the model for St Francis´ school in the Shakespeare´s Moon books.
James studied journalism at City University, London, working for magazines as diverse as The Face and Gericatric´s Weekly before dropping everything and travelling through Ireland, France, Germany and India, washing dishes, childminding and teaching English. He finally settled in Madrid, Spain, where he lives with his wife and two young children.
James loves writing and reading - the former a compulsion, the latter a pleasure - as well as running, swmming, eating, drinking and trying to see, and enjoy, the good things in life.
