Fergal Barr

A proud parent and grandparent, Fergal Barr has been involved in Youth Work since 1987. He is a passionate devotee of the value, benefits, relevance, and importance of humour as a means of engaging people and transforming situations and relationships. He is also a firm advocate of the learning that International Youth Work brings to young people, young leaders, youth workers and other practitioners, with particular regard to its potential to transform relationships in Northern Ireland. An avid book reader, he is also an author, having published books in 2008, 2011 and 2020. He also has the distinction of singlehandedly changing employment law in Northern Ireland in 2001. A lifelong (and sometimes suffering) Liverpool Supporter, Barr likes to travel, enjoys good conversation, is curious about life in general, and is an excessive tea drinker. His mottos/mantras are: "It is what it is"; "Humour is the shortest distance between people"; "There are always people worse off than you"; and "Don't go to a party you're not invited to."
