God Beyond Belief, A
Our troubled culture needs to reclaim God from the extremists, scoffers and fundamentalists by moving beyond a simplistic childish belief to a quantum faith, by embracing paradox.

Something has gone terribly wrong. We face a spiritual crisis, but the extremes of religious fundamentalism on one hand, and scientific atheism on the other, offer no cure. Scepticism is soaring, especially among Millennials. Daily, we read of scandals among our politicians, priests and Hollywood stars. Mass shootings are epidemic, yet entertainment media glorifies violence. Drugs, not 'religion' as Karl Marx claimed, are now the 'opiate of the masses'. 'Christian' TV preachers use donations to purchase private jets and mansions, while children starve. The White House has claimed that 'Truth is not the truth'. Our leaders and institutions have lost all moral authority. A common religious response to crisis is to thump the Bible harder and louder.
This book challenges us to go beyond a simple, childish belief. Dr Lance Moore offers an intelligent faith rooted in a respect for Scripture, while taking a fresh look at calcified orthodoxies. He invites readers to embrace paradox, in Spirituality and in Science, to rediscover God for our Quantum Age.

4 out of 5 stars: When a church says drink the Kool-Aid it's time to run. For about forty years I've called myself 'a recovering Baptist' because I grew up in a Baptist church where figurative Kool Aid was served weekly, so when I was old enough to run, like Forest Gump, I ran. Thanks to this book, not only do I understand I had to flee the Baptist Church for my mental health, but more importantly I understand Christianity isn't inherently toxic. The Kool-Aid vendors would be well advised to read this book lest they continue to lose young people who don't feel compelled to drink their Kool-Aid. ~ James, Amazon
5 out of 5 stars: I love books (and other media) that make elbow room for people. I enjoy voices that give allowances for alternative interpretations of ancient texts, written in languages I'll never set out to learn for myself. This book gave me peace about my questions on how we should read and use scripture. It made me feel small in the best way. It reminded me that achieving a flawless theology is impossible. It reminded me that God is inconceivably large as well as good. And the elements I enjoyed most unexpectedly were the new (to me) scientific truths of the universe that actually helped me better behold God's majesty and glory. ~ Justin Michal, Amazon
In “A God Beyond Belief,” Dr. Lance Moore “makes a philosophically accessible case for a more rationally nimble understanding of religion…. The author shows a commendable intellectual ambition and recognition that religious faith and science needn’t be adversaries…. A lucid...account of a historically vexing problem.” ~ Kirkus Reviews
