Cely Chicurel started creating a magical world of animals, dragons, wizards, and castles in her childhood kitchen. She attended Penland and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and
has a B.S. from East Tennessee State University majoring in pottery and weaving. For forty years she has been making and selling her fanciful clay creations. Cely also teaches art to children and adults, encouraging them to discover their talents as they play with clay and other art media. In 2001, Cely received a Master of Church Ministry from Duke Divinity School and added spiritual retreats to her growing list of offerings. Today Cely and her husband Bill operate Cely’s House, which includes an after school program, weekend creative birthday parties, and summer art camps.
