Political ideologies (general)
The Israeli/Palestinian conflict is not mainly about politics, nor religion, nor even geo-politics. It is about pathology. The traumas of the 20th century have driven millions of intelligent, capable people into active psychological pathologies, which they experience as ideological realities. Some of the cult-like groups associated with Christian evangelicals and the national-religious settlers in Israel will settle for nothing less than an apocalyptic religious war to punish the world for allowing the Holocaust to happen.

[This book] could be boiled down into "Cut down crucifixes, shut down Shoah museums!" ... Swaim's book is not chamber music, but rather a rap song: Speedy charges, pointing fingers, uncorrect statements, hard to bear distorcions, rhythmic repetitions - and many veil-lifting verses. It's value rests mainly in its first part (with the wonderful pages 116/117); what he says here is extremely worth listening. Swaim sharply points to the disastrous effects of non-separation between state and religion, from Constantine zu modern Israel (not to mention her Muslim neighbor states). In this perspective, the Israel supporting, Israel critical Jew that I am can recommend Swaim's book (which figures as the first of his planned "Genesis Trilogy") to the critical reader - hoping that the author will read some books (for example Robert Wistrich's "A Lethal Obsession") before writing the next one. ~ Dr. Konrad Yona Riggenmann, Amazon.com
