J. Brent Bill
J Brent Bill is a Quaker minister, author, retreat leader, conservationist, and photographer. he has written many books, articles, and fiction pieces and teachs writing at the graduate school level and in adult continuing education courses. He has also served as a writing coach to a number of published writers.
David Crumm, formerly of the Detroit Free Press, says I am “a substantial spiritual guide, but never in a flashy way.” Phyllis Tickle in The Great Emergence, writes about me as a Quaker thinker and author who is becoming “more and more central to the life and thought of Christians gravitating toward the center”. He holds an M.A. in Quaker Studies from Earlham School of Religion (a Quaker theological graduate school), has been a recorded (“ordained” to non-Quakers) Friends minister for more than thirty years, and also served as pastor in Friends meetings (churches) large and small, rural and urban. Before retiring, more than eleven years ago, he was the executive vice president of the Indianapolis Center for Congregations (an organization funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.), followed by a time as associate secretary for communications, publications, and outreach for Friends General Conference, an international Quaker organization in Philadelphia, PA.
He is a frequent conference speaker and retreat leader, appearing on radio, podcasts, and television.

He has strong international Quaker connections, ensuring Hope and Witness will be listed on “Quaker Books” (http://www.quakerbooks.org/), featured in its monthly newsletter, and will make a personal appearance at the FGC Gathering (the Gathering is an annual event that more than 1,200 Quakers attend). Other Quaker booksellers nationally and internationally will carry and promote the book.
