Helen Holt

Helen Holt

Helen Holt gained a PhD in plasma physics before moving into scientific publishing. She pursued her interest in theology as a hobby alongside work as a scientific copyeditor when her sons were young, but in 2013 embarked on an MSc on the relationship between science and religion at the University of Edinburgh. While studying she became fascinated with Quakerism, both academically and personally, and wrote her PhD thesis on how the Quaker Rufus Jones made use of psychology to think about how God and humans were related. Her subsequent book on the subject is 'Mysticism and the Inner Light in the thought of Rufus Jones, Quaker' (Brill, 2022). She lives in Peebles in the Scottish Borders.
