David Rowan
David Rowan is an ex-oil industry executive who, in 1990, fathered his daughter Alexandra following several IVF attempts. His family lived in the UK and Norway before settling in Houston, Texas. Following the death of his daughter in 2013, Mr. Rowan is now active on several fronts, including; the sponsorship of an annual Creative Writing Festival at the University of Pittsburgh; funding of writing-related internship for college seniors, and; collaboration with the National Blood Clot Alliance to raise public awareness about the risks of hormone-based birth control. Mr. Rowan also collaborates with other bereaved parents and has participated in several relevant conferences. He was interviewed for inclusion in documentary, 'Sweetening the Pill', produced by TV personality Ricki Lake in association with Holly Grigg-Spall and her Zero Books' title of the same name. The documentary released in early 2018.
