Charlotte Carnegie has been practising and studying yoga for fifteen years. During that time she has worked with many inspiring teachers. Her deep interest in yoga led her to teach, and she undertook formal training with the Krishnamacharya Yoga and Health Foundation, as well as other trainings with respected teachers in specific areas of yoga. Charlotte is passionate about bringing yoga to everyone, no matter what their age, ability or situation. In the modern context, she found that bridging the gap between the traditional teachings of yoga as a spiritual discipline and the rational Western mind and belief system was the main obstacle in communicating the beauty and potential of yoga to students. Drawing on ten years' experience working as a finance lawyer in the City, where everything must be analysed and justified, she found she was in an ideal position to translate the teachings of yoga into clear and rational language, in a way that is palatable and integrated with modern Western life - without diluting the essence of the teachings. It is her aim, and the aim of this book, to continue to help people find their way into yoga and what it means for them.
Charlotte is based in London, UK, and studies and teaches yoga full time. She is married with two children.
