Releasing tomorrow (Friday 26th September 2014) from Top Hat Books...

IntendedThe Intended, by Sten Eirik

A young, up-and-coming Swedish officer is suddenly and traumatically forced into the role of victim, as his newly wedded bride is defiled and murdered by pirates. His mode of survival is to become someone new, who works hard to suppress the memory of his own victimhood. He insinuates himself with the perpetrators and becomes captain of their ship. Only years later, when a new woman is able to touch his heart, he re-discovers the seat of his buried pain and turns against his own brood to avenge his slaughtered bride and his own slaughtered innocence. In an exotic 18th century colonial setting, this novel explores the psychology of trauma, dissociation and redemption. Set against a political backdrop of the era, with revolution and romantic individualism versus etiquette and conformity.

Author: Swedish by birth, Sten Eirik arrived in Canada at age 12 and has spent most of his life as a Canadian. Creative writing became his hobby and passion from the age of 8, and a love of theatre and film followed in his teens. Sten's professional acting career began at age 22 and led eventually to the acting company of the Stratford Festival under Robin Phillips. This inspired him to pursue a career in directing and he is the founding Artistic Director of Guild Festival Theatre in Scarborough, Ontario (www.guildfestivaltheatre.ca). In TV and film, Sten has worked on-camera with Gene Wilder, Charlton Heston and David Carradine. Having spent over three decades employed in professional theatre, TV and film, Sten's goal is now to give more time to writing/publishing.

Outside of the arts, Sten is a certified psychotherapist with 15 years of experience treating a wide variety of ailments and issues.
