RenFairStandingThere’s much more to authoring than typing away at a keyboard. Our fiction authors have been out and about wearing all kinds of different hats, some more literal than others...

Mercedes Rochelle has been out bringing history to life at a Virginia Renaissance Fair (that's her in the photo!) . Her new book, Godwine Kingmaker was published by Top Hat Books in April.

Marie Yates has been interviewed for Dogs Today Magazine's June Edition which will be out in early May. Also, Marie is in the next round of the People's Book Prize! Voting opens on the 15th!

Jan Krause Greene is the newly elected Vice President of the Women's National Book Association, Boston chapter.

RJ Dearden launched The Realignment Case in Whitstable and has been interviewed by Writers' News for May and the local Whitstable paper.

Cathie Devitt is now Affiliation and Outreach Secretary for Scottish Association of Writers http://www.sawriters.org.uk/index.html

Carolyn Mathews did a signing at Abbotts Langley community market on April 25, 'sandwiched' between a wood turner and a home-made cake stall!

NE David tells us... “First and foremost I'm off to Estonia for my annual bird-watching expedition where I'm hoping to see some Hazel Grouse, Nutcrackers and possibly the odd Black Woodpecker. But when I get back I've got a book signing in WHSmith's in Beverley (Saturday 23rd) for BIRDS OF THE NILE. The following week I'll be at the Darlington Arts Festival as part of my launch campaign for THE BURDEN. This kicks off with a book signing at Waterstones (Middlesbrough) on Thursday 28th during the day and a reading at the Voodoo Cafe (Darlington) in the evening. On the Friday I'm at Waterstones (Darlington) for another signing and in the evening I'm giving a talk at The Health Warehouse, also in Darlington. Believe it or not, I'm then doing WHSmith's at White Rose (Leeds) on Saturday 30th. As for Sunday 31st, I'm keeping it free. But if you've got any suggestions...”

Nimue Brown has a free audio book coming out as a podcast series. It was recorded at home, sometimes in trying conditions, and included the major challenge of working out what a demon would sound like. (Gary is voiced entirely on the inbreath, if you were wondering). It’s the same mix of the serious and the silly that you’ll be familiar with if you’ve read her paperback novel Intelligent Designing for Amateurs. Not so Steampunk though. Fewer mice, more cake and about the same number of undead people, give or take a limb.
