BookSigningReflections on the first time 'out' as an author, by Mercedes Rochelle.

On Sunday, Feb. 8, I set up my table at the “Second Sunday Marketplace at Stangl Factory” an Antiques, Art & Collectibles Show. Stangl was a 19th century Pottery Factory in Flemington NJ known by collectors for the dinnerware of that name. Now it has been repurposed to host boutiques, a coffee shop, restaurant and a local market. Because I am local, I thought this would be a good place to establish a once-a-month presence. To stay in the spirit of crafting (just in case crafting a book doesn’t qualify), I stitched a sign with my name on it to attract attention. I think it worked! I also put up a little stand for my laptop and ran my book trailers continuously. The next time, I plan to dress in a period costume to see if that helps break the ice for a Renaissance Fair (in April).
