The fairies were quick back then. Nowadays, you see urban fairies going through the bins with the foxes. Some people even put food out for them. Back in the mid-eighties, they had only just begun to venture into the suburbs.I only left him in the Co-op for five minutes. I'd felt grown-up, pushing my baby brother down to the shops. But on my way back, I forgot. His pushchair was still by the door with the other prams.I ran as fast as I could. He looked just the same. But thirty years on, I know he's not my brother.
