My trail of books shows the kind of writing which inspires me: strange, imaginative and original.
Paul Auster: Amazing, sparse, modern and poetic writing style which brings the characters to life. His stories are very moving and thought-provoking.
Iain Banks: His debut novel 'The Wasp Factory' was witty, bizarre and gripping. I've read most of his novels, although he also wrote several science fiction books as Iain M. Banks, of which I've only read one, 'Feersum Endjinn'. I read a lot of Sci-fi when I was young, especially the immense Robert Silverberg.
Tahir Shah: Another heavy influence. I started off on 'The Caliph's House' which is the interesting and amusing account of moving with his family to a decrepit house in Casablanca. I then went on to read all his other work, both fiction and non-fiction. The true story of his journey to India to become a magician - 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' - is my favorite; so surreal, it's difficult to believe!

Andrew's Novel, The Witch's List, will be published by Cosmic Egg in 2016.
