Because we “know” were supposed to, it is sometimes easier to say that we love ourselves than it is to demonstrate the love we proclaim. Here are 108 simple and beautiful ways to walk the talk of self-love and deepen in that truth.

“There are said to be 108 lies that humans tell, as well as 108 forms of ignorance. There are 108 energy lines converging from the heart chakra, and 108 paths to God. There are 108 stages of the soul, oh, and my personal favorite: 54 letters of the Sanskrit alphabet....Each letter has a masculine and a feminine energy, hence 108.”

The magic of self-love is that the more you give to yourself, the more you are able to share with the world around you. So read on!


  • 1.       Breathe.

  • 2.       Pause to look at and smell the flowers in the grocery store...and then buy them for yourself!

  • 3.       Take a long, hot bath and allow the water to caress and love your body.

  • 4.       Write yourself a love letter.

  • 5.       Say "Hi, beautiful" when you look in the mirror.

  • 6.       Give yourself a hug in public.

  • 7.       Give yourself kisses up and down your arms.

  • 8.       Gently wipe away your tears.

  • 9.       Stoke your forehead as you fall asleep.

  • 10.   Prepare yourself a special meal, light a candle, and eat it in front of the mirror.

  • 11.   Relish a piece of dark chocolate.

  • 12.   Buy something because you LOVE the color.

  • 13.   Call a friend and tell them what you want.

  • 14.   Take a day off just because you want to.

  • 15.   Remind yourself that you are okay, safe, precious, sexy...whatever you need to hear.

  • 16.   Put yourself to bed early.

  • 17.   Let yourself stay up late to do something you love.

  • 18.   Say "No, thanks."

  • 19.   Say "Yes!"

  • 20.   Sing yourself a lullaby.

  • 21.   Meditate.

  • 22.   Treat a friend to lunch and relish the company.

  • 23.   Let someone else treat you.

  • 24.   Escape into a book.

  • 25.   Say a prayer.

  • 26.   Celebrate anything...even the lines on your face.

  • 27.   Go gray.

  • 28.   Dance like nobody's watching but you.

  • 29.   Be crazy with your voice and play!

  • 30.   Laugh at a joke only you think is funny.

  • 31.   Eat with your hands.

  • 32.   Go just a little further out into the ocean.

  • 33.   Let yourself travel to a far away place, even if it's only the grocery store.

  • 34.   Run down the middle of the street (when no cars are coming).

  • 35.   Talk to the fairies and angels.

  • 36.   Let your food speak to you and share its love with you.

  • 37.   When you come home, let everything in your environment sing a welcome to you.

  • 38.   Trust yourself.

  • 39.   Forgive because it feels good inside.

  • 40.   Surrender.

  • 41.   Take a walk and ask yourself how you've been.

  • 42.   Be firm with yourself when you hear a doubting thought.

  • 43.   Create a beautiful picture.

  • 44.   Buy a coloring book and color outside of the lines...or give Barbie gray hair.

  • 45.   Take a break before you really need one.

  • 46.   Give someone else a break before they would take one for themselves.

  • 47.   Think of all the potential and unlimited space in your bank account just waiting to be filled.

  • 48.   Talk to a coach, mentor, or beloved teacher.

  • 49.   Know it's still just between you and God.

  • 50.   Reread old journals and celebrate lessons learned.

  • 51.   Protect yourself from violence.

  • 52.   Stop trying to fix everybody else.

  • 54.   Clean and de-clutter your space.

  • 69.   Watch a sunset and know it is a reflection of your heart ablaze.

  • 76.   Teach someone something they thought they couldn't learn.

  • 78.   Pick your favorite love song and play it to yourself.

  • 80.   Start saying, "I can have both."

  • 81.   Why watch TV when you can look in the mirror?!

  • 82.   Wonder in an unfamiliar neighborhood.

  • 83.   If you get lost, smile.

  • 84.   Repeat to yourself, "Mmmm."

  • 85.   Shout out loud, "YES!"

  • 86.   Celebrate the spirit of Christmas in July...or February or year round.

  • 87.   Contemplate a flower.

  • 88.   Fast from toxic emotions.

  • 89.   Accept what you have been working hard to deny, and say "ahh!"

  • 90.   Let the glorious sunset burn an imprint into your heart.

  • 91.   Open all the windows and doors and let love in.

  • 92.   Listen to your food speak before you eat it.

  • 93.   Watch I [Heart} Huckabees, the Matrix, Bruce Almighty, Groundhog Day, American Beauty, TheTruman Show or some other movie with a profound message.

  • 94.   Read Rumi and savor every word.

  • 95.   Read Hazrat Inayat Khan.

  • 96.   Read or listen to Eckhardt Tolle (or your favorite spiritual teacher).

  • 97.   Try something you don't think will work.

  • 98.   Run your fingers through your hair.

  • 99.   Stretch!

  • 100.Before a bath or shower, massage yourself with oil from head to toe sending a message of love    and care to every inch of you.

  • 101 Let joy happen!

  • 102.Make music whether or not you can play an instrument.

  • 103. Ask Ask for a hug.

  • 104. Share a dream with a trusted friend.

  • 105.Hold a puppy and connect to the innocence and sweetness inside you.

  • 106.Do a 40-day practice for anything you want.

  • 107.Give thanks.

  • 108.Forgive yourself for everything.


You can pick just one thing you can do right now and bask in your love for yourself. But you don’t have to stop there. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination. So let the light in and then radiate it everywhere you go. When you do, you’ll help others come to understand and feel safe that it is healing and healthy to absolutely love ourselves!
